Bayonetta 2 is fun. Not a nice little time waster for a rainy afternoon, but a genuine thing to play, a real action combat and stylized mayhem done in a cohesive and adrenaline-charged good time. Not exactly upgrading the original’s amazing design, Bayonetta 2 does not seek to correct the issues it might have and just raises the game’s combat and character levels. From its opening moment to its final, it’s just a game, and the weakest part of the entire thing is that it is too short.

Bayonetta 2 builds upon the original game with some new additions like new weapons, combos, and gameplay features. Ever wish to be a pilot of a giant mech, powered by witch magic, and fly towards the gates of heaven while killing off airplane-sized angelic dragons? Bayonetta 2 has it. Every set piece, every boss fight is so set up in a joyous absurdism that you cannot play this game without having a smile on your face the whole time. The soundtrack is beautiful, varied, and wild. Its art is an aesthetically pleasing swathe of neon-Catholic design peppered through with demonic, Norse-inspired architecture and level layout.

• Umbran Climax: One of the more impressive additions to this sequel, the Umbran Climax temporarily boosts the magic gauge capabilities of Bayonetta.
• This enables her to summon giant demons from hell and extends her range of attack drastically, for powerful crowd control effects.
• Tag Climax Co-op: The game will feature a two-player online and local multiplayer option where players compete against a wave of enemies and bosses while wagering in-game currency, called halos.
• Nintendo Crossover Content: This game has Nintendo’s various characters unlocked for your character, such as Princess Peach, Zelda, and Samus, which will subtly change the way the game is played, such as blocking with Link’s Shield or using Samus’ Arm Cannon.
• Designed to be very approachable: The game also includes a Touch Play mode in which players can direct Bayonetta and fight through a combat scenario through the touch screen.
