Description:

Dragon Quest III in 2014, and this was my first experience with the game. Back in 2017, when I played the first demo of what was then being dubbed Project Octopath Traveler, I didn’t know it would be one of my favorite Square Enix RPGs of all time and that the aesthetic would be used in some of the best Square Enix RPGs of the last few years, such as Octopath Traveler II, Triangle Strategy, and the Live A Live remake.

When the Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake was revealed, I wasn’t sure whether it would remain faithful to its origins, how its classic style would be translated to HD-2D, or what quality-of-life elements to anticipate. I’ve had the chance to try out the early part of the final game on the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck, courtesy of early codes from Square Enix.

Dragon Quest 1, 2, and 3 Collection NSP Key Features:

  • Enhanced Combat: Classic turn-based combat with improved UI, battle speed, and new animations.
  • Accessibility Options: difficulty setting (optional invincible/easy mode), auto-battle, and optional quest/navigation markers.
  • Modern Systems: Autosaving, highlighting of map features to locate treasure chests, and battle tips to attack enemy weaknesses.
  • Stunning Art Style: Combines classic pixel art with high-definition 3D environments, lighting, and visual effects.
  • Reimagined Orchestrated Soundtrack: Experience an authentic musical score, made for you, inspired by the original timeless magic of the universe.

Installation Instructions

There is no difference between NSP and XCI formats — both run exactly the same on any Nintendo Switch emulator. Your downloaded Dragon Quest 1, 2 & 3 Collection file is in NSP format.
To play on an emulator, open your emulator, go to File → Load File (or drag and drop), and select the downloaded NSP file.
Ensure your emulator has at least Firmware 9.0.1 installed before launching Dragon Quest 1, 2 & 3 Collection.
On a hacked Nintendo Switch, install the file using Tinfoil (highly recommended) or DBI Installer.
The direct download link may occasionally be slow or unavailable due to high traffic. If it fails, please wait a moment and try again.
