Description:

A Hat in Time NSP Platformers and 3D action games have had something of a resurgence in recent years, and it’s no surprise that the classic 3D platformer has been brought back to us by simpler times when primary colours predominated and games like Banjo-Kazooie, Spyro the Dragon, and we, the moustached plumber, ruled the roost. We’ve already seen a few attempts at bringing back the good old times, such as Yooka-Laylee, as well as re-releases of Crash Bandicoot and the aforementioned Spyro.

The usual array of 3D platforming abilities is at your disposal, including double-jumping and wall jumping, and various other tricks that involve (ahem) jumping. Coolly enough, the primary way to attack enemies is by smashing them with an umbrella, and that isn’t something that many other games would allow you to do apart from Parasol Stars. The biggest twist to the game is the titular ‘hat’ or more exactly ‘hats’.

A Hat in Time NSP Key Features:

  • N64-Style 3D Platforming: The game is heavily based on the genre of platforms such as Super Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie, with the character having acrobatic abilities such as double jumping, diving, wall running, and grappling.
  • Dynamic Hat System: Gather some balls of yarn scattered around levels to stitch on different hats, which will give you special powers. The Brewing Hat may be used to create explosive potions, for instance, or the Time Hat may be used to alter the environment or freeze time.
  • Massive, Diverse Worlds: You will be exploring the themes and gimmicks of giant semi-open worlds, such as a sunny Mafia Town, a haunted Subcon Forest, or an award-winning bird movie studio.
  • Exploration: Some areas, and even secrets, are closed off until you obtain the key hat or badge for them – this requires backtracking and exploration.
  • Bar Customizable Loadouts: You can outfit and combine badges that change the way you play the game (e.g., magnetically pull in collectibles, or have a grappling hook at your disposal).

Installation Instructions

There is no difference between NSP and XCI formats — both run exactly the same on any Nintendo Switch emulator. Your downloaded A Hat in Time file is in NSP format.
To play on an emulator, open your emulator, go to File → Load File (or drag and drop), and select the downloaded NSP file.
Ensure your emulator has at least Firmware 9.0.0 installed before launching A Hat in Time.
On a hacked Nintendo Switch, install the file using Tinfoil (highly recommended) or DBI Installer.
The direct download link may occasionally be slow or unavailable due to high traffic. If it fails, please wait a moment and try again.
