Devil Inside Us: Roots of Evil NSP very interesting look at the depravity of the human brain and how we can be so thoroughly corrupted by the thing that we think we want to oppose. Strangely, this is not what you would expect from a horror game to do: make you play as a more grown-up character. His travellings through this dark apocalypse are more horrendous and desolate because he is an old man who is in August.

First-aid kits for health, coffee tablets for stamina, rosaries for “faith” – it’s kind of like a pseudo-FPS – you shoot August’s cross at things and hold+click to exorcise them, inanimate objects and abominable demons alike (and, for a brief period, a weapon that makes it a true FPS). I should point out that I didn’t run out of any of the supplies, anyway.

• Uniquely Vulnerable Protagonist: Play an old and decrepit 74-year-old priest. His walking velocity is low; August can not run continuously without taking out his stamina, and his stamina can only be restored by means of caffeine pills.
• Crucifix & Faith Mechanic: You can remove evil with the help of your crucifix and faith. These skills deplete your faith and can be replenished by picking up rosary beads.
• Mediumistic Abilities: Utilise August ‘sium abilities to gaze beyond reality to see dream worlds, nightmare scenarios and hidden clues and paths.
• Environmental Exploration: Explore dark, atmospheric environments and collect objects, read journals, find keys and investigate cursed objects.
