Description:

This random factor is a little bit of a double-edged sword, in that it keeps you on your toes on one hand, but removes a layer of strategy and player agency on the other. The controls are  the Exit the Gungeon NSP left joy con stick controls your movement and the right stick allows you to aim your weapon. If you want to shoot, fire your gun with R and ZR will explode your limited bullet zapping ‘blanks’, if you want to dodge you can either roll with B or jump with A, or ZL and L for both. While it may seem opposite to decades of Mario training, we really liked the latter way as it meant we didn’t have to remove our thumb from the right stick.

But, of course, that solution is to EXIT THE GUNGEON. This is not a sequel, per se, but rather more of an epilogue. After having overcome and defeated their history, the four available Gungeoneer characters must claw their way up from the depths of the namesake dungeon before the entire supernatural structure collapses, leaving them to perish.

Exit the Gungeon NSP Key Features:

  • Vertical Fast Action: Unlike the original top-down action game, this game presents players with vertical action and high-paced combat in small, cramped, and chaotic rooms and elevators.
  • Ever-Changing Gun System: Your weapon will randomly change at random times thanks to the blessing of a sorceress. The better you do, the more powerful your weapons will be and the higher your combo will go.
  • Dodge Roll & Jump Mechanics: Signature dodge roll returns give temporary invulnerability. It’s supplemented by active jumping, which is essential to navigate through full-screen, high-bullet-count situations.
  • New Enemies and Bosses: New “Gundead” and bosses are specifically designed for the smaller, more confined arenas like the Medusalier, Meowitzer and Glocktopus.

Installation Instructions

There is no difference between NSP and XCI formats — both run exactly the same on any Nintendo Switch emulator. Your downloaded Exit the Gungeon file is in NSP format.
To play on an emulator, open your emulator, go to File → Load File (or drag and drop), and select the downloaded NSP file.
Ensure your emulator has at least Firmware 9.0.1 installed before launching Exit the Gungeon.
On a hacked Nintendo Switch, install the file using Tinfoil (highly recommended) or DBI Installer.
The direct download link may occasionally be slow or unavailable due to high traffic. If it fails, please wait a moment and try again.
