As for the reasons why Musashi vs Cthulhu is good or bad as an idea, there’s not much of an introduction to be done. Simple games like this have been around for a long time anyway – One Finger Death Punch might be the best at it. When you know that there’s nothing more people love than zoning out and playing games while going through other activities (watching movies, listening to podcasts, watching children’s recitals, etc), then the possibilities are limitless.

We’ve seen a handful of titles that have followed this same idea in the past, albeit in different formats, and with this new 2D, dual-bladed, reflex action game, you’re getting the same mechanics with different graphics. Musashi vs Cthulhu NSP Key Features:

• Timing-Based Combat: Enemies attack you on both sides of the screen. You have to hit the highlighted weak spots (head, torso or legs) in a timely fashion with directional and face buttons.
• High Kill Count: The more you kill, the more the horde will become aggressive. Enemies will take multiple shots before they can be destroyed, switch sides to attack from behind, and introduce new defensive markings.
• 6 Different Enemy Types: Learn to handle a variety of different creatures that are based on the Cthulhus, distinctive attack types, movement speed and how to beat them.
• The game has a shallow story and emphasizes score-keeping and top-level survival modes. Compete weekly, monthly and in the all time leaderboards with friends and other players.
• The game’s repetitive, stripped-back, and rhythmic nature makes it ideal for fast-paced, intense, pick-up-and-play games where the rhythm is key to survival, as in “The Zone.”
