No More Heroes. As with most creators in the industry, there are some in this niche that do release some fun and unusual games, and No More Heroes is one of them. As a personal example, I became interested in this kind of “weird” creation through Hideo Kojima. Yes, it’s a cliché statement. However, over at Grasshopper Manufacture, Goichi Suda (aka Suda51) and his crew prefer to inhabit another weird space. He’s not just telling a story about a gang of assassins conspiring to bring down a crime syndicate; he’s pairing up with Shinji Mikami to save his girlfriend from Hell with the help of his boner-joke-machine of a talking gun/motorcycle gang.

• Open World Exploration: Ride around the expansive cityscapes and imaginary worlds on Travis’ iconic motorcycles.
• Odd Jobs & Minigames: You will need to complete an assortment of ludicrous side jobs and minigames, from collecting coconuts to assassinating specific people, to pay for the high entrance fees for ranking battles.
• Progression: Purchase of expensive equipment at training gyms to increase your stats, expensive equipment for fancy clothes, or new weapons.
• Pop-Culture Satire: This story is a very rich, self-reflective parody of pop culture, video game conventions, and geek/otaku culture.
• Cel-Shaded Visuals: The games have a signature cel-shaded visual style, making them look like a blood-filled comic book in action.
