Psyvariar 3 is a fun and action-packed return of this popular vertical shoot-em-up (SHMUP) genre, featuring arcade style gameplay with today’s improvements for handheld gaming and HD screens. Written by Banana Bytes and released by RED ART GAMES, this sequel to the popular Psyvariar series is an action shooter set in the same universe, featuring a unique “buzz” mechanic that encourages precise and skillful shooting. The Switch version retains the arcade appeal with updated control options, adaptive difficulty settings, and many new modes that are really good on the Switch, whether you’re in handheld or docked mode. From the seasoned veteran to the newcomer to the genre, Psyvariar 3 delivers a highly rewarding experience to both with seven characters to play and each having unique shot types, bomb mechanics and scoring systems.

Psyvariar 3 puts players in a universe where Earth is now under the command of a band of elite pilots called the Psyvariars—those who choose not to give up on humanity’s home planet. The plot of the game follows the story of a strange alien broadcast causing a full invasion of the planet, where a new generation of pilots must rise to the occasion to fight for them. The Switch version improves this immersive experience with crisp graphics that are easily visible when handheld, and the OLED display’s vibrant colors bring out the bullet patterns and explosions with stunning clarity. There are seven different areas and bosses, each of which changes its attack pattern on a difficulty-basis, so that each playthrough is fresh and challenging.

• Rewards high risk play: allows you to eat enemy bullets in Refined Buzz System. Grazing increases your ship’s level, making it temporarily invulnerable, increases speed, and boosts weapon power.
• Signature Roll Mechanic: Shrinks your hitbox of ship and targets your fire to the rolled position with either modern controller mechanics or the classic arcade “wiggle” to navigate through close clusters of bullets.
• Unique Character Roster: Select among 7 characters, ranging from original characters to special guest star Cotton from the Cotton series, with unique shot types and scoring systems.
• Multiple game modes: Arcade, Arrange (a less complex and easier to play mode), Mission (49 short challenges), Caravan, Endless and Practice.
• Level Up: Fully filling the gauge will boost the ship’s level immediately.
