Description:

Psyvariar 3 is an excellent shoot ’em up that’s jam-packed with variety and challenges that’ll keep you blasting away for hours upon hours. I was still heavily into Amiga development at the time, but pretty soon thereafter, we reduced our scope. The demoscene and classic Amiga game projects, and finally spending some quality time with my girlfriend,d were the things that occupied less of our time, but they took the place of the time we hadn’t been getting to each other for two or three years now. We went and spent every spare moment we had on Burnout 2.

While she was working, I began to play a lot of shoot ’em up games on the PS2… and I got hooked, hooked really, on Silpheed. From there on, I couldn’t get enough of the genre. It was a stroke of luck that Burnout 3: Takedown came out, so we had something to do together. Meanwhile, while I was wallpapering away, my PS2 shoot ’em up library began to expand exponentially. Games such as XII Stag, REZ, Mobile Light Force, R-Type Final, Gradius III, IV, and V, and Raiden III came to the shelf.

Psyvariar 3 NSPKey Features:

• The game rewards you for flying dangerously close to enemy projectiles and lasers instead of just dodging them, in the Buzz System (Bullet Grazing). Grazing bullets will give “Bu,zz” which is essential for point boosts to shield chains.
• Neutrino & Level-Up System: As you accumulate Buzz and shoot enemies, your ship levels up. Once leveled up, there’s a short period of time that you are invulnerable, which makes it possible to chain attacks without being damaged, and you can play aggressively by firing hard at the enemies.
• A quick roll can be performed using directional input to graze bullets and gain additional movement benefits. These are given via the original Arcade “wiggle” input, together with the modern controller enhancements for evasion and positioning.
