I played through DAVE THE DIVER on Steam Deck this year and got hooked on the game when I cast a line and reeled in into the game. It’s lured once again on Nintendo Switch. I had to have the fishing puns out of the way. If you haven’t done so yet, though, then you should experience the joys of Dave the Diver, a game that somehow combines the roguelike spearfishing and time management games of a sushi restaurant, and it is one of the most fun games of the year.

The shark meat of the game is “capturing or hunting fish and aquatic life” during the diving part of the game to serve up your catch for dinner at the sushi restaurant. As the days go by while playing the game, however, Dave the Diver will add a farm, fish farm (get it?), an upgrade of weapons, and mini-games.

Dave the Diver NSP Key Features:

• Deep-Sea Exploration & Combat: delve into the depths of the “Blue Hole,” a mysterious underwater world populated by more than 200 species of sea life, treasures, and tremendous boss encounters. Every dive is a rogue-like challenge, with Dave’s oxygen tank serving as his health bar, so that when he runs out of oxygen, he has to evacuate quickly.
• By night: You become a nerdy cook named Bancho and make your catch of the day into tasty sushi. Your job is to staff, create the menu, establish prices, and provide service for customers. Funds from profits are reinvested in the equipment needed for diving and restaurant upgrades.
• Quirky Narrative & Characters: The game features a fun and satirical plot line with some quirky characters, spoofs, and ancient civilization mysteries.
• Stunning Art Style: A beautiful, eye-catching combination of 2D pixel art and 3D environments, the marine world is brought to life.
• A huge range of side activities: Lots of mini-games and side quests. The game has a lot of new mechanics, such as photography challenges, seahorse racing, and even fish farming under the sea, to name a few. There are also new mechanics added all the time, like the seahorse racing, the photography challenge,s and even fish farming under the water, just to mention a few.
