There’s already a lot of praise for how amazing The Stanley Parable is, so much so that 2022’s The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe has an entire section dedicated to all of that praise. There’s no point in reiterating how it cleverly plays games with your own expectations of the video game, nor how it dissects the choice that games often give you, lest I end up in the fate of someone’s previous post where their own words show up in the inevitable re-release in 2031. But, of course, here I am doing just that, having already seen and heard all of them said about and by The Stanley.

.Before we dig in too much, let’s just say that for this game, it’s almost impossible to give it away, because so much of the magic and joy of it is in uncovering things for yourself. I will do my utmost not to spoil that experience for you while explaining why it’s an experience worth having and what the general outline of the way Ultra Deluxe expands upon it will be. I will not give a spoiler alert on the jokes or ending, but I will say that if you want to play it as is, you should stop here and compare your thoughts on the ending with mine.
