Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, or Tomodachi Collection: Exciting Life in Japan, is a 2026 social simulation game by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch. It is the third in the Tomodachi Life series, following the Nintendo 3DS game Tomodachi Life (2013). The game is about the real life of Miis, customizable avatars, who live on an island and solve problems and make relationships, all by themselves, monitored by the player.

Development for Living the Dream started shortly after 2016’s Miitomo was released in 2017. After watching the Nintendo 3DS’ technical capacity being a constraint to the scale of the game, director Ryutaro Takahashi and producer Yoshio Sakamoto were inspired to create a sequel to the original Tomodachi Life. Creating avenues for user-generated content was done in an effort to promote near-infinite replayability. • Facial Details: Players can make Miis from scratch, or receive assistance with answering questions. The skin color, face painting, custom hairstyles and even one’s own artistic skills can be applied to the face of the Mii.
• Personalities & Quirks: The behaviors, talking, eating and walking of your Mii personalities can be set up.
• Custom Layouts: Unlike previous games, you are able to build shops, houses and facilities in any location on the island.
• Room Design: Give your Mii their own room and interiors of all kinds from a regular house to a library or supermarket.
• Group Activities: Miis are now able to interact in group scenarios and events as well, further enhancing the dramatic nature of the island.
