Description:

Ikaruga Japanese, also known as “Ika” or “Ika no toku”. Treasure-developed ‘Japanese grosbeak’ is a bullet hell game. It is a spiritual sequel of Radiant Silvergun (1998), which was first released in Japanese arcades in December 2001. It is a tale of a rebel fighter pilot named Shinra fighting against an enemy nation with a specially designed fighter known as the Ikarug, which can switch between two states, black and white. This polarity mechanism is the core of this game and the basis of its design of the stages and enemies. All enemies and bullets in the game are either black or white. Bullets that are the same color as the player are absorbed, while the others will kill the player. Single-player and cooperative modes are available.

Ikaruga NSP Key Features:

• Polarity System: Players can switch ship color from Black to White at any time.
• Polarity Absorption: If the ship’s polarity is the same as the incoming enemy fire, then the ship absorbs the bullets without being damaged.
• Energy Accumulation: Bullets absorbed increase in energy level, which can be released as a huge burst of homing lasers.
• Risk/Reward Combat: When the game calls for an attack from an enemy of a different polarity, you can switch to the other side of the polarity and deal a double attack while being double attacked on the other side at the same time.
• The game has a puzzle-like quality as the Chain Combo System gives ample multipliers after killing three in a row of enemies of the same color (e.g., killing three Black enemies in a row, then three White enemies).
