Neo: The World Ends with You NSP  (eShop) (NEO The World Ends with You) launched on the Nintendo DS in 2007, the same age as the game’s main protagonist, Neku. Although the real-world Shibuya, so lovingly modeled in the game, was half a world away from me, the stylish cast, growing up and overcoming one’s own prejudices and inhibitions.

The absolute bop of a soundtrack took me captive. I recall forum threads from when I was a kid about a sequel being announced at the next E3. And then again the following year. And the year after. At the time, I was 16, just a year older than when the game was released on the Nintendo DS in 2007.

Neo: The World Ends with You NSP Key Features:

• Dynamic 3D Combat: In the original Nintendo DS game, combat was played out on a two dimensional, flat plane, whereas in this game it is played out on a free roaming 3D plane.
• Pin System (Psych Abilities): Gather and outfit more than 300 different pins. Every pin will give you a new “psych” (combat) skill, from a close-range attack to an elemental attack with serious damage.
• Groove & Mashup Mechanics: When the attacks are chained, “Drop the Beat” prompts are received. The groove meter can be filled via landing combos on these prompts. When maxed out, you can unleash devastating attacks.
• Your party will be able to use special abilities in the city to navigate outside the battle. You will be able to scan for the negative-energy “Noise”, read NPCs ‘ thoughts, and even change the story through time rewind.
• Social Network Grid: When you meet new allies and acquaintances, you unlock a huge social network grid of upgrades. Use Friendship Points to make lasting improvements to your stats and increase your number.
