Another Code Recollection, but I love that it’s there. Nintendo has a habit of taking the low road with remakes, improving the graphics and controls, but generally not changing any of the gameplay and story. Not so in this case, though, because developer Arc System Works made a massive gamble with this dual remake, giving both of these rather obscure puzzle adventure titles a facelift and a complete overhaul, with a new 3rd-person viewpoint and a fresh script that has some decent voice acting.

The developers have definitely got a passion for Another Code, and it’s great to have another small series being returned from a big publisher. The story itself, despite its improvements, is still unremarkable, and the puzzles aren’t particularly inventive. Despite all of its improvements, Another Code: Recollection simply never reaches the heights of greatness thanks to the substandard puzzles and the predictable story that’s rooted in too many convenient amnesia tropes. Another Code Recollection NSP Key features:

• Two Connected Stories: The original Trace Memory (Two Memories) is followed by its sequel (Journey into Lost Memories), and the latter is finally available in North America.
• Reworked 3D Gameplay: The game no longer has a point-and-click or set-path style like the original, but a fully explorable 3D world where the player is in full control of Ashley.
• Overhauled 3D Gameplay: Shifts away from the point-and-click or set-path formats of the originals to a fully explorable 3D environment where players directly control Ashley.
• Rotating Puzzles: All-new environmental riddles with modified puzzles fully utilizing the 3D space
• Enhanced Visuals and Audio: Features modernized 3D graphics, redesigned character models, overhauled music, and brand-new voice acting for cutscenes
