Description:
Crow Country is just as much about the graphics of the PS1 days, and it does this very well. The developers understand everything that makes classic survival horror so riveting and terrifying to its fans: the feelings of suspense, an environment that feels like it’s out to get you, and enemies that are downright unsettling. What Crow Country does, though, is none of the above: It does what the older survival horror games did and gives it its own twist.
Chandeliers jump from the ceiling, upending you at every turn, and poison-licking crows keep you on your toes as you walk about the park, which is a threat in and of itself. Even seemingly innocent doorways will have spikes suddenly emerge from them, dealing damage if you aren’t careful. There are different types of enemies; they all look weird in their own way and act in their own way: Some small ones run fast towards you, or some large, long ones slowly creep up on you. A broken speaker emits noisy and distorted music due to the fault.
Key Features:
- Classic Survival Horror Gameplay: Resource Management and Item Hunting, along with intricate puzzles reminiscent of the early Resident Evil or Silent Hill titles, make Crow Country the cosiest survival-horror game.
- Variable Difficulty & Modes: Includes a standard “Survival” mode for combat, and a stress-free “Exploration” mode that removes enemies so you can focus entirely on solving puzzles. Crow Country might be the cosiest survival-horror game.
- Retro, yet Modern Presentation: A PS1 vibe, but with modern 3D camera angles and fluid control options. Crow Country might be the cosiest survival-horror game.
- Engaging Combat: Players will be able to use a range of weapons (pistols, shotguns, magnums) to engage in combat with a variety of weird and mangled creatures; Source Gaming’s stop-and-aim mechanic was used.
- Rich Narrative: Edward, the mysterious owner of the park, is the focus of the game, and rewards players who are observant enough to read the various memos scattered about the park to solve its sci-fi-ish mystery. Crow Country might be the cosiest survival-horror game.
