Skyhook NSP: There are not many games that have been speedrun-optimized and can be downloaded for free through the Cyber Hook Switch. Games with speedrun-friendly philosophies are rare and far between. It’s good to have a clear audience, but it’s an extremely dangerous niche that demands a lot of dedication and passion from the developers for it to really flourish, especially in the case of speedrunning. Cyber Hook is one such title that is heavily intended for players to take advantage of its replay value, growing more adept over time.

Ever since reviewing Ghostrunner last year, I’ve been on the lookout for more unique first-person platformers. What’s great about games such as Mirror’s Edge and Ghostrunner is that you can really feel like Spider-Man, knowing you are responsible for your every jump, dash, and wall run. Cyber Hook appears to take a page from their book, as it’s a first-person platformer with a hookshot-like device to allow you to easily attach/detach to platforms.

Skyhook NSP Key Features:

• Deathmatch & Team Deathmatch: Free-for-all or team (2v2/3v1) deathmatch.
• A game involving a grappling hook and a team, in which you try to score in the opponent’s goal.
• Capture the Swag: A variation on Capture the Flag where players would have to grab a bag of swag and try to hang on to it as long as they could.
• Strategic mode with limited hooks that are only re-created when you are standing on firm ground, Steam Tank.
• Sky Slayers: Score points by killing other players; lose points if you kill yourself.
