Description:

Paper Mario: The Origami King is an exclusively Nintendo Switch (Switch OS) cross-genre video game from 2020. It was developed by Intelligent Systems and is published by Nintendo, and it is the sixth game in the Paper Mario series and the Mario franchise. The story follows Mario and his friends as he sets out on a journey to prevent the Mushroom Kingdom from being transformed into origami.

Throughout the journey, Mario can acquire coins to buy items for combat and treasures to put in a museum. Toads are one of these secret treasures that are either origami or creased and crumpled. Mario can interact with non-player characters, some of which will join Mario’s party temporarily and may join Mario in battle or interact with the obstacles at the play level.

Paper Mario: The Origami King NSP Key Features:

• Ring-Based Puzzle Combat: Battles occur in “rings” of concentric circles. The aim of the game is for the player to slide and rotate the arena to assemble enemies in a certain pattern (e.g., 2×2, 1×6, straight diagonal, etc.), then launch a Jump or Hammer strike for maximum damage.
• 1,000-Fold Arms Ability: Mario can use enchanted spots to interact with the environment. This mechanic enables Mario to rip, tear, or peel apart portions of the world, disclosing secrets or sparking dramatic moments.
• Vast, Connected World: The game will not have a linear, stage-by-stage map, but will instead have a vast, connected overworld. Explore different types of environments such as forest, desert, ocean, and more optional islands and sunken treasures, as well as fast-travel systems like Warp Pipes.
• Collectibles & Companion System: There are a whole host of hidden Toads and collectibles in the world in the Collectibles & Companion System. Mario will have more people to cheer for him when he fights, and to assist him with the ring puzzles. Along the way, Mario will have weird, floating party guests.
• Epic Boss Battles: Bosses are lots of paper, arts and crafts style (Colored Pencils, Tape). Players will have to interact with puzzle grids containing specific action spaces to reveal the boss’ vulnerabilities.
