Description:

DAVE THE DIVER cast a line and reeled me in when I played through it on Steam Deck earlier this year. It’s lured once again on Nintendo Switch. I really had to get the fishing pun jokes out of the way. But if you haven’t played something that is actually a combination of roguelike spearfishing exploration, like Dave the Diver, then it is a wonderful thing.

One of his first tasks is to gather fresh ingredients from the Blue Hole to feed the oddball Bancho’s new sushi restaurant. However, as they go on, a much deeper and more enigmatic plot emerges. The narrative cleverly weaves together lighthearted humor with intriguing mysteries, keeping players invested in Dave’s journey as both a diver and a restaurateur.

• Gear Upgrades: Combine the materials collected and the money from the sushi sales to create your diving suit, air tank, cargo box, and weapons to dive further and face dangerous predators.
• Rogue-like Elements: The environment and topography of the Blue Hole are ever-changing with each dive. Once you run out of oxygen, you lose most of the items that you gathered on that run.
• Epic Boss Fights: Explore ancient ruins and fight huge, exaggerated boss battles, including giant squids and sharks.
